Milk Choudai first opened on April 17, 2006 as a lyrics translation website. Its first purpose was to provide English-speaking fans of Japanese underground rock (aka angura-kei) with a better understanding of the artists' lyrics, but it has since grown to include interviews and translations for major artists as well. All translations have been revised and edited as of September 3, 2009.

I (Maude) first started translating several years ago in order to practice and improve my Japanese. I have no background as a translator and my experience comes exclusively from what I taught myself over the years — as such, I cannot guarantee that my translations are flawless. However, I have lived in Japan for a whole year and I have successfully passed the level 2 of the JLPT in December 2008, so I do believe that you can trust my translations to be accurate for the most part. That said, translation is far from being an exact science, especially when it comes to lyrics, so I highly recommend reading other translations that you might come across and forming your own interpretation of the original text.

The translations posted here are viewed as work in progress and are constantly improved as I further my knowledge of the English and Japanese languages. For this reason, I would advise against posting them on other websites to prevent outdated or inaccurate translations from floating around. However, with the Internet being what it is, I would at least really really really appreciate proper credit and a link back to this website. I do accept requests (within my ability) and I love getting any kind of feedback, so by all means, email away!

And while we're at it, Milk Choudai simply means "Milk please" in Japanese — and don't look for any kind of dirty meaning, because there isn't any. ;D
